2025 Summer Season

Information:

Season: June 9, 2025 to September 11, 2025 (at the latest, more likely ending in August), includes regular season and playoffs, likely 7 or 8 matches total per team.

Venue 1: Portage Pickleball Club, 38 George Hill Drive, Southport (Portage La Prairie), MB (dedicated outdoor Pickleball courts). Mondays and Wednesdays 6pm start time, hopefully not required but potentially adding 8pm start time depending on number of teams in the league and general feeling for a 10pm ending time. Venue has lights. Washrooms available. Venue 1a (backup to venue 1 during inclement weather): Central Plains Rec Plex, 25 Centennaire Drive, Southport, MB (indoor gym surface – bring indoor shoes).

Venue 2: Tuxedo Community Centre, 368 Southport Blvd, Winnipeg, MB (asphalted hockey rink). Tuesdays and Thursdays 6pm and 8pm start times. Venue has lights. Washrooms available.

If anyone knows of additional locations, please forward the name and address. Thanks!

Schedule: Teams play approximately 1 match per week (2 hours per match) on one of the days/times listed above – all divisions rotate – teams generally will NOT play on the same day/time each week. A schedule of dates and times for the season will be published before the season starts. Brandon teams will always play in Portage. Portage teams will primarily play in Portage but will have some games in Winnipeg. Winnipeg teams play in Winnipeg except when the match is against a Brandon or Portage team (if desired and court space is available, two Winnipeg teams could also play on the dedicated courts in Portage).

Divisions: Mixed gender teams (no all male/female teams or singles in this season). 3.0, 3.25, 3.5, 3.75, 4.0 and 4.25+ levels. Advertising levels in 0.25 increments gives a finer range for registration but it’s unlikely there will be enough teams in all levels so some levels may be distributed into other levels to balance the league (consulting with affected teams).

Format: 4 players (must be 2 male and 2 female) per match, up to 8 players on the roster to allow for alternates, 6 doubles games per player per match (2 games gender doubles and 4 games mixed doubles), click here for additional detailed league rules. See the scoresheet for details on how partners and opponents are created for each match.

Significant Rule Changes from Previous Seasons:

  • All players must be members of Pickleball Canada (PCO), Pickleball Manitoba (PMI) (or other provincial/territorial membership body) and the MPL. Memberships are on an annual basis (January to December) and current membership fees are PCO $10, PMI $10 and MPL $0 (no additional player fee over the league team entry fee). These fees are non-refundable (not controlled by the MPL), so please don’t do this registration until your team is confirmed to have a division to play in. Click here for PCO/PMI/MPL Individual Registration.
  • Spares are allowed to play in two matches before being required to register. Prior to the third time playing a league match, the spare must register with PCO, PMI and the MPL.
  • Home team provides the balls (MPL no longer provides balls).

Entry Fee: $150 per team up to May 18th and $200 after May 18th. Registration is not complete until the entry fee has been paid. Registration fee is to be paid by e-transfer to [email protected]

*** Registration Deadline: May 25th, 2025 (Registration is now closed) ***
